interesthings #14 - Smiling to strangers

In this interesthings: Smiling to strangers, a Tesla humanoid robot and Hip-Hop in concert.

Good morning! Hope you had a great week. As mentioned on the previous instance of Interesthing, I am making this a monthly newsletter. Doing it more on my own pace instead of trying to push a newsletter every week.

As for me, working for myself is going really well. I have clients and the freedom that comes with it is satisfying. Next to that, in January I have two really exciting projects on LinkedIn to get more notability and go viral. Working with multiple companies and LinkedIn themselves on a really big project.

Can’t tell you yet what it is. But I can give you one hint: I will bring entertainment to a new level on LinkedIn. To propel my business forward.

On this months newsletter I want to tell you about Smiling to strangers, the news from Tesla and a really awesome concert of Metro Boom.

Smiling to strangers

Last weekend I smiled all day to strangers.

When I was younger my dad gave me a lot of his old books. One of them is ‘How to Win Friends and Influence Others’ by Dale Carnegie.

I decided to give it a shot. And let me tell you, this book gave me so much to learn. I will not disclose all the teaching of Dale Carnegie in this newsletter, but let me pick one for you: Smiling.

It might seem simple but smiling to people increases both your own and the others perception of you.

So I gave it a go on the weekend. My mission was to just smile to everyone.

What did I notice?

  • So many people smile back

  • You get instant gratification of being positive

  • People start liking you more

The days following made me more positive. It should not be underestimated what the power of a smile can do.

Let me challenge you: Try to smile to at least 2-3 people that you do not know. Just a simple smile will be sufficient.

Things

  • You might not know Metro Boomin, but you sure know one of his produced songs. Red Bull Symphonic had this epic concert with him. Hip-Hop with classical instruments. It sounds amazing.

  • Tesla is delivering the Cybertruck to customers. In the release 4 years ago one of the head designers told that the glass was indestructible, and threw a iron ball against it. It smashed the glass. So to commemorate this moment, they released a limited edition ‘broken glass’ sticker to put on the window. If you own a Cybertruck, buy it here.

  • Framer just released page transitions, which is a gamechanger for webdevelopment. Just being able to turn this feature on in minutes instead of hours of development blows my mind. Want to get the first 3 months free on your Framer subscription? Use the code partner25proyearly.

  • Want to watch a new series? I just started watching For all Mankind season 3, which is so awesome. Go watch it on Apple TV.

  • Tesla is not done after the Cybertruck. They just released a video of their new humanoid robot, Optimus.

That’s it for this month. Your batch of interesthings. My goal is to have 5 more new subscribers at the end of this year, so if you are not subscribed, please consider doing so!

Make it a great 2024.

Mark.
